Teaching Bible and Art Jo Milgrom
Jo Milgrom received her Ph.D. in Theology and the Arts from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, Ca., where she taught through the Center for Jewish Studies. Her courses focus on experiencing Jewish life and art, and on the art, midrash and symbolism in the narratives of the Hebrew Bible. In her workshops participants (untrained in art) create and experience the metaphors of the Bible in their lives and re-form articles and practices of ritual.
Jo Milgrom is the author of The Akedah, The Binding of Isaac, A Primary Symbol in Jewish Thought and Art, and "Handmade Midrash, Workshops in Visual Theology", and co-author of Teaching Ruth in Text and Art. She is an assemblage sculptor and poet, has exhibited in Israel at the Jerusalem Theater and the Givatayim Theater. She resides in Jerusalem with her husband, Jacob Milgrom. Jo teaches at the Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies in Jerusalem.

Yoel Duman was born in the United States and immigrated to Israel at the age of 19. He earned his BA and MA at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and his Ed.D. at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, where he specialized in the use of the Internet in Jewish Education. He currently teaches Bible at the Hebrew University Secondary School and at Hebrew Union College, Jerusalem. In recent years he has taught academic courses -on site and online- on the use of art in Bible instruction, Jewish Educational Technology and Rashi's Torah commentary.
